Pyithu Hluttaw Speaker U Khin Yi received the Ambassador of Bangladesh to Myanmar, Dr. Md. Monwar Hossain, Tuesday evening at the Pyithu Hluttaw guest hall in the Hluttaw Building in Nay Pyi Taw.

During the meeting, the Speaker said that following the election, the three branches of state power have emerged, and the Hluttaw is accelerating its legislative work, which is its primary responsibility. He added that the Hluttaw is working to support national development, improve the socio-economic life of the people, and enact laws that are in line with current needs.

He noted that a bill to combat online scams is currently being discussed in the Hluttaw and efforts are underway to enact it as law. He also requested assistance from the Ambassador in promoting greater engagement and cooperation between the parliaments of the two countries.

In response, the Bangladeshi Ambassador asked questions regarding the structure of Myanmar’s Hluttaws and electoral matters, explained the current parliamentary structure of Bangladesh, and further discussed issues related to immigration. The meeting was attended by Pyithu Hluttaw Speaker U Khin Yi, Deputy Speaker U Maung Maung Ohn, officials from the Pyithu Hluttaw Office, and officials from the Embassy of Bangladesh in Myanmar, it’s learnt.
