“In today’s world, where differences and divisions are becoming increasingly widespread, museums serve as bridges that can connect all humanity.
In carrying out such efforts, museum experts and museum staff need to cooperate and work together with local communities,” said Union Minister for Hotels, Tourism and Culture U Maung Myint in his opening speech delivered Monday morning during the International Museum Day ceremony held at the Mini Theatre of the National Museum (Nay Pyi Taw).
Following this, the Director-General of the Department of Archaeology and National Museum explained that after Myanmar became a member of the International Council of Museums (ICOM) in 2016, commemorative activities have been organized annually for International Museum Day starting from 2017.
Afterward, a panel discussion led by museum expert Daw Nu Mya Zan was held, during which questions and discussions raised by attendees were answered and addressed.
Later in the afternoon, the Union Minister attended the opening ceremony of an internal office capacity-building training course organized by the Ministry and delivered an opening address. The training course will be conducted for a total of 58 trainees and will last for four weeks, it’s reported.
