The Ministry of Finance and Revenue has announced new measures to increase agricultural loan amounts as part of the 100-day plan of the new government.
Keeping the interest rate at 5% per year, loans per acre have been raised up to 300,000 kyat for major crops including paddy, wheat, and others. Additional loans at 6% interest will also be available for purchasing farming equipment, from small tools to large machines like dryers and silos.
The new loans for the 2026 monsoon season will begin on May 12. Farmers are encouraged to apply early at local branches of Myanma Agricultural Development Bank.
