In Myitkyina, Kachin State, the opening ceremony for the self-reliant Thidar Strand Road and Ingyankaung Lane (5)—a collaborative effort between the government and the public to commemorate the Thadingyut Lighting Festival on the Full Moon Day of Thadingyut (Abhidhamma Day) in 2026, was held vibrantly this morning on the road itself.

State Chief Minister U Khet Htein Nan attended the event and delivered a congratulatory speech. Subsequently, relevant officials separately presented the current status of the completed roads, the roads planned for continued development within Ingyankaung Ward, and the construction status of the flood retaining wall and dam. Following this, the ward administrator expressed words of appreciation.

Afterward, the new roads were inaugurated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony by the State Chief Minister, the Commander of North-Command, the State Chief Justice, the Deputy Commander, the Minister of Transport, and the Minister of Development Affairs.

They then inspected the new asphalt roads, specifically Ingyankaung Lane (5) and the new asphalt road on Strand Road leading up to the Ingyankha floodgate. They also inspected the ongoing landscaping preparations along Strand Road for the Myitkyina Night Market, which is scheduled to open in time for the Tazaungdaing Festival.
