A unique, beautiful, and high-quality ruby was discovered at Mogok Jewel Land in the Mandalay Region.

The discovery was made after the post-Myanmar New Year of 1388, following the assumption of office by the newly elected government after a free and fair multi-party democratic general election. On Thursday, President U Min Aung Hlaing viewed the newly discovered ruby at the Presidential Guest Hall.

Weighing 2,200 grams (11,000 carats), it is a rare natural stone, purplish-red in color with slight yellowish hues, and exhibits transparent quality. Previously, a 99.25-gram Na Wa Ta ruby was discovered in 1990, a 4,290-gram ruby in 1996, and a 557.85-gram Na Sa Ka ruby in 2022.

All four rubies, including this latest discovery, came from the Mogok area, and each has distinctive qualities and high value. Although the ruby found in 1996 is the heaviest, the latest discovery is considered the most valuable due to its superior color and quality.
