Meeting on Rural Development: MCRD UM held meeting with regional directors

Union Minister for Cooperatives and Rural Development U Myo Zaw Thein met with responsible officials and Region/State Directors from the Rural Road Development Department via video conferencing on May 5th and provided guidance on ensuring that rural road and bridge works contribute to rural development and support production.

The Union Minister further urged to prioritize efforts to ensure that all village roads become all-weather roads usable regardless of season, to facilitate the expansion and connection of rural road networks to improve access to healthcare, education, and social services for rural residents, thereby supporting the development of their socio-economic lives; to enable timely transportation and sale of agricultural and livestock products as well as MSME products to markets, thereby increasing household incomes; to carry out multifaceted rural development works centered on the cooperative system through collaborative and dedicated efforts between departments and to cooperate with other departments when planning road networks that reach market destinations.

Subsequently, the Deputy Minister, Region/State Directors, and responsible officials clarified and presented on the works being undertaken during the current fiscal year and the processes to be carried out moving forward. The Union Minister provided supplementary instructions as needed, coordinating and addressing operational requirements, it’s reported.
