It is reported that the Tatmadaw, for the sake of the country's stability, peace, and development, has been conducting counter-terrorism operations in areas temporarily controlled by terrorist insurgents where terrorist acts are being committed, with the participation of local residents, and has been gradually regaining control.

The Tatmadaw fully recaptured and took control of Indaw Township in Katha District, which had been temporarily controlled by terrorists, on April 30th. Furthermore, on May 5th, the Tatmadaw additionally recaptured and took control of Mawlu Town in Indaw Township, which had also been temporarily controlled by terrorist insurgents. Mawlu is a town within Indaw Township, Katha District, located 20 miles north of Indaw.

It is situated along the Shwebo-Myitkyina road, a critical inter-state connecting route between Sagaing Region and Kachin State, and is an area of importance for transportation and the flow of goods. After the Tatmadaw columns recaptured and controlled Indaw Township, they continued clearing operations and expanding their foothold in the surrounding area.

To subsequently recapture and control Mawlu Town, they divided into columns and advanced using military tactical maneuvers. They recaptured and controlled Nar Makyaing Village, Pintin Village, and Nabar Gyi Village between Indaw Township and Mawlu Town on May 2nd; Point 305 Hill and Pin Wai Ywa Thit Village on May 3rd; and Ton Lon Village and Hpar Pan Village on May 4th.

On May 5th, Tatmadaw columns fully recaptured and controlled Si Pein Village, Nar Khwin Kyin Village, and Mawlu Town. During the clearance operations by security forces to fully recapture and control Mawlu Town and the surrounding area, there were engagements with violent insurgents. In addition to recovering bodies and weapons from the insurgents, security forces also seized barrels of sheet metal used for storing fuel oil, glue barrels, fuel storage tanks, and motor vehicles from locations where insurgents were illegally engaging in fuel oil storage.

Local residents who had bitterly suffered under the unlawful oppression and persecution of the terrorist insurgents enthusiastically welcomed the Tatmadaw columns that recaptured and cleared the areas, along the entire routes, holding victory flowers and garlands with great joy and excitement. It is further reported that Tatmadaw columns are conducting necessary area control operations in those regions, and are continuing to accelerate area security and control operations to reopen the Mawlu-Nan Si Aung road section as quickly as possible.
