Union Minister for Agriculture, Livestock, and Irrigation U Min Naung visited the freshwater shrimp hatchery in Kyauk Tan of Than Lyin Township on Saturday, to review operations and discuss necessary improvements with officials. He noted that Myanmar began shrimp hatchery programs in 1996, faced a pause in 2012 due to disease, and later relied on imported shrimp from Thailand.

The Union Minister emphasized producing native Myanmar shrimp for domestic supply and future exports starting 2026–2027, with private operators actively participating. In the afternoon, the Union Minister visited private dairy farms in Mingaladon Township.

He encouraged proper farm management, food safety, and consistent feed supply. Arman Dairy has 340 milking cows and 118 dry cows, producing 650 viss of milk daily, while TM Dairy has 750 milking cows and 300 dry cows, producing 1,500 viss daily. Milk and dairy products are distributed to supermarkets in Yangon.
