








Union Minister for Information U Htein Lin visited Waziya Cinema in Kyauktada Township on Friday to inspect its ongoing upgrade into an international-standard venue.
Officials reported on the cinema’s history, renovation progress, and completed works. The Union Minister emphasized that Waziya Cinema will serve not only as a movie theater but also as a hub for cinema, literature, theater, and music. He instructed authorities to ensure its long-term operation while preserving its historical value. Renovation works should proceed in phases, with systematic reporting and follow-up plans.
The Union Minister also inspected a nearby train station parking facility and later met with film and video censors at the film promotion office in Bahan Township. He acknowledged the censors’ dedication to reviewing films in accordance with national cinema and video laws.
In the afternoon, he visited Mawkun Cinema on Sasana Yeiktha Street in Bahan Township, to review preparations for film training programs under the 100-Day Plan. Officials from Forever Group provided updates on TV channels and training schools. The Union Minister coordinated for all ongoing projects, and took a tour to the building.
