







Rakhine State Chief Minister U Naing Oo met with athletes selected for the Region and State Men’s U-18 football competition and men’s and women’s badminton events athletes at Dhanyawaddy Sports Ground in Sittwe on Friday. He encouraged them to compete with honesty, perseverance, and sportsmanship.
The Chief Minister and party also observed badminton training sessions. They later proceeded to the State Government’s storage facility in West Sanpya Ward and oversaw rice and basic food items, as well as search and rescue equipment.
The Chief Minister instructed officials to maintain the supplies systematically to prevent damage and waste. They also inspected the designated site for a new Disaster Management Department storage facility and instructed for timely completion in line with standards.
They later visited the District Disaster Management Department office to review rescue equipment storage. Later, the Chief Minister and party attended a presentation ceremony on solar lighting projects at the State Government Office.
The Chief Minister highlighted lessons from previous projects and stressed the need for field surveys and systematic planning. Participating companies then presented proposals, followed by discussions and inspections of displayed solar equipment.
On April 30, the Chief Minister attended a coordination meeting on water flow improvement in Sittwe. He called for clearing and excavating drains and main waterways before the monsoon season to prevent flooding, as well as unblocking water outlets and improving urban drainage.
The Chief Minister and party also heard reports on ongoing measures and coordinated requirements. He also inspected the drainage works along KhawahThel Creek, Thabam creek, the multi-purpose port outlet, Phaungdawgyi sub-bank outlet, BOC outlet, Sinku Road outlet, Kathe Bridge outlet, and May Yu Road outlet.
He also instructed for timely and effective implementation to ensure improved water flow. Afterwards, the Chief Minister and party visited the Mingan Ward in Sittwe to inspect the excavation of necessary drainage channels to improve water flow.
