Vietnamese pangasius had reached a new milestone in Japan, entering the menu of a major sushi chain with more than 500 outlets nationwide. According to the Viet Nam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers, the move marks a significant step into one of the world’s most demanding seafood markets.

As Japan has strict standard preferences for traditional marine species used in sushi, Vietnamese pangasius has met those requirements and gained acceptance among Japanese consumers. Pangasius is a farmed freshwater fish, being used in dishes paired with ingredients such as soy sauce and wasabi, which offers a different option within Japanese-style cuisine.
