Inspection of Renovation Works: MOEA UM inspected renovation works of staff housing

The Union Minister for Ethnic Affairs, U Than Maung, accompanied by responsible officials, on April 28, inspected the renovation works of the staff housing building (Red Level) No. 2216, belonging to the Ministry of Ethnic Affairs, located in Balatheiddhi Ward, Zabbuthiri Township, Nay Pyi Taw, which had been damaged by the Mandalay earthquake.

First, officials from Noble Swamm Company explained the progress of the renovation works for Building No. 2216. Then, the Union Minister and officials inspected the ongoing construction works, and the Union Minister provided necessary guidance. Subsequently, the Union Minister and officials inspected the living conditions of staff and their families in the container houses constructed within the Ministry's office compound for temporary accommodation of staff affected by the earthquake.

He urged the staff families to live cleanly and neatly, offered words of encouragement, and arranged necessary support. In the afternoon, a coordination meeting regarding the registration of ethnic literature and cultural associations and the supervision of ethnic affairs work was held at the meeting hall of the Ministry.

Union Minister U Than Maung delivered the opening speech, stating that the meeting was organized to coordinate the activities of ethnic literature and cultural associations working on ethnic affairs in regions and states, and to facilitate their registration with the relevant registration body.

He urged all responsible officials to contribute their ideas and discussions to ensure that the nationality, religion, literature, and culture of ethnic peoples do not decline or disappear, and to promote their socio-economic development. Afterwards, the Kayin Ethnic Affairs Minister of Tanintharyi Region Government, the Kayin Ethnic Affairs Minister of Bago Region Government, the Chin Ethnic Affairs Minister of Magway Region Government, the Chin Ethnic Affairs Minister of Rakhine State Government, and the Kayin Ethnic Affairs Minister of Yangon Region Government discussed via online system.

Subsequently, the Director-General of the General Administration Department and the Deputy Director-General of the Ministry of Legal Affairs continued the discussion. The Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Ethnic Affairs then supplemented the discussion. Following that, the attendees held general discussions.
