Meeting and Giving Guidance: MOFA UM met with personnel who will serve abroad

The ceremony where the Union Minister addressed the officers and staff who will be going to serve at Myanmar embassies, Myanmar permanent representative offices, and Myanmar consulates-general abroad was held on Tuesday, at the Saturinga Bala Hall of the Ministry in Nay Pyi Taw.

During the ceremony, the Union Minister for Foreign Affairs, U Tin Maung Swe, gave an orientation speech, stating that, in posting personnel abroad, only those who meet the specified criteria are selected and sent. He urged them to strictly observe the codes of conduct required as representatives of the State.

He emphasized the need to respect the customs and culture of the country where they will be serving. He highlighted the importance of having an accurate understanding of their own country's actual political, economic, and geographical situations. He instructed them to work for the benefit of their country and to further improve international relations.

He also encouraged them to diligently fulfill the five core duties of diplomats and to do their utmost to look after the interests of Myanmar nationals residing abroad. Subsequently, the officers and staff introduced themselves one by one, stating the countries where they had previously served and the countries where they are to serve next. The Union Minister then provided detailed guidance on the objectives to be achieved for each country of assignment. He then delivered the closing remarks, and the ceremony was concluded, it’s reported.
