





The opening ceremony of a training course to enhance the professional skills of teachers who will be responsible for teaching Grade-10, Grade-11, and Grade-12 at basic education, industrial, agricultural, and livestock high schools, specializing in agriculture and livestock subjects, was held on April 27 at Yezin Agricultural University in Nay Pyi Taw.
The Union Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation, U Min Naung, attended and delivered an opening speech. This training course, opened for the 2026-2027 academic year, is being conducted for the fourth time. The opening ceremony was attended by Deputy Ministers, a Permanent Secretary, responsible officials, and 381 trainees for the skills enhancement course specializing in agriculture and livestock subjects.
After the ceremony, the Union Minister inspected the construction project of the Sinthay Diversion Dam, which is being newly built near Thayetkwin Village, Tatkone Township.
He also visited the experimental farm at the Institute of Agriculture and Livestock (Pyinmana) to inspect the experimental cultivation of two cotton varieties, Shwetaung-10 and RAKA 666, conducted by the Cotton and Bast Fiber Crops Department under the Department of Agriculture. These trials use methods to control plant size for simultaneous cotton harvesting. Responsible officials explained the respective sectors, and the Union Minister discussed and provided necessary instructions, it’s reported.
