Union Minister for Women’s Affairs, Dr. Thet Thet Zin, met with Chairman of the Nay Pyi Taw Council, U Kan Myint Than, at the Nay Pyi Taw Council Office to discuss a pilot project aimed at developing the lives of rural women within the Nay Pyi Taw area.

During the meeting, the Union Minister explained that as part of the ongoing efforts to empower women and young girls, a plan has been drafted to prioritize rural women's development in three specific regions including the Nay Pyi Taw Council Territory, Mandalay Region, and Shan State.

The project will focus on enhancing reading habits and providing support to open rural libraries, ensuring school-age children have the opportunity to attend school and encouraging women's participation in businesses and creating more job opportunities.

The Union Minister stated that the initiative will begin as a pilot project in selected villages across these three regions. She requested the cooperation of the Nay Pyi Taw Council in collecting baseline data and drafting the specific project frameworks to begin implementation in local villages.

In response, the Chairman of the Nay Pyi Taw Council noted that among the eight townships in the union territory, the three original townships such as Lewe, Pyinmana, and Tatkon have high rural populations. He expressed a desire for vocational training programs to be opened for women and recommended setting specific targets for the project. He concluded by confirming that the Nay Pyi Taw Council would provide the necessary cooperation and support for the project's success, it’s reported
