A total of 61 PNLO members voluntarily surrendered their weapons and returned to the legal fold on Sunday in Bago Region, following the government and Tatmadaw's peace initiatives.

The surrendered arms included firearms, grenades, and other equipment, which were officially handed over to local authorities. A total of 152.9 million kyats cash rewards were provided for the returnees, along with necessary support. Previously, on 24 April, 517 members from various armed groups, including KIA, AA, and PLA, also surrendered and joined the peace process.

Most returnees cited forced conscription, violence within their groups, and the desire to live peacefully under the law as their reasons for surrendering. The government reaffirmed its commitment to assist former combatants in reintegrating into society, providing both financial support and necessary services.
