Inspection Tour: Nay Pyi Taw Airport and Locomotive Factory

Union Minister for Transport U Mya Tun Oo, accompanied by Deputy Ministers and officials, visited Nay Pyi Taw International Airport on Thursday.

The Union Minister inspected the reconstruction of the control tower damaged by the Mandalay earthquake. Officials from Pioneer Aerodrome Services reported on site selection, soil tests, and construction progress. The Union Minister emphasized using earthquake-resistant designs, adherence to standards, and proper supervision by engineers.

At the locomotive factory, the Union Minister reviewed the construction of Battery Electric Locomotives (BEL) and Battery Electric Multiple Units (BEMU) and instructed to follow the set schedule, safety measures, and quality standards. They also inspected the DEMU trains set to operate on the Yangon–Mandalay route from May 1, ensuring safe and smooth travel for passengers.
