Ordinance 2/2026 : Martial Law Order in townships under State of Emergency

The President Office issued Martial Law Ordanance.2/2026 on April 23. In an effort to restore normalcy with administration mechanism, community peace and rule of law in the townships under the State of Emergency, the Martial Law order was declared under Section 413 (b) of the constitution, and entrusted the administrative and judiciary duties of those townships to the Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services.

The Commander-in-Chief shall exercise Martial Law by himself or shall transfer the power to the relevant military authority. The order shall remain in effect for 90 days starting April 23. It was signed by President U Min Aung Hlaing.
