Summer Paddy Harvesting: YGN Region CM delivered the opening remarks

A ceremony for the harvesting of a 2025-2026 summer paddy model plot and the distribution of monsoon paddy seeds, fertilizers, direct-seeding devices (Drum Seeders), and two-panel solar sets was held in the morning of April 23 at the farmland of farmer U San Maung in Yay Paw Thaung Village , Htantabin Township, Yangon Region.

During the ceremony, Yangon Region Chief Minister U Aung Naing Thu delivered the opening remarks. Following this, the Chairman of the Hmawbi District Management and Administration Committee, the Regional Head of the Department of Agriculture, the Director of the Department of Irrigation and Water Utilization Management, and the Regional Head of the Department of Agricultural Mechanization provided briefings on the progress of their respective sectors.

The Chief Minister and members of the region government then formally presented the monsoon paddy seeds, fertilizers, Drum Seeders, and solar sets to farmers within Hmawbi District. After the presentation, the Chief Minister greeted the attendees cordially.

The Chief Minister and party then toured an exhibition featuring paddy seed samples and fertilizers, coffee saplings, the harvesting of the summer paddy model plot using a combine harvester, Drum Seeders, low-lift solar-powered water pumps, and other agricultural equipment.

Subsequently, the Chief Minister and party inspected the Yay Paw Thaung Solar-Powered River Water Pumping Project in Htantabin Township and the Kan Kalay Solar-Powered River Water Pumping Project in Kan Kalay Village, Hmawbi Township. After officials briefed him on the operational status of the projects, the Region Chief Minister provided the necessary instructions for further implementation, it’s learnt.
