







Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr. Soe Win and Bago Region Chief Minister U Myo Swe Win visited villages in Gyopingauk and Zigone Townships affected by strong winds on April 17.
They inspected damaged houses and met with affected residents. The government provided relief assistance, including cash support, rice allowances, and hygiene kits for households with destroyed or damaged homes and monasteries. In Gyopingauk Township, 10 houses collapsed and 375 houses lost roofs.
In Zigone Township, 57 houses collapsed and 639 houses were damaged. Thousands of people were affected and received aid. The Union Minister said strong winds are common between March and June in Myanmar and often cause damage every year.
He encouraged people to strengthen houses in advance and follow safety instructions during strong wind. He also warned about other seasonal hazards such as heavy rain, lightning, and flash floods. The total relief provided for both townships amounted to over 91.8 million kyats, including cash and relief items.
