The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation and the Ministry of Cooperatives and Rural Development jointly implemented the program to ensure farmers can access quality fertilizers at affordable prices for summer paddy cultivation in the 2025–2026 season.

At Khayan Kaing Village in Nay Pyi Taw Lewe Township, urea fertilizer was sold directly to farmers at 100,500 kyats per bag, on a cash payment basis, and delivered directly to farming areas. Union Minister U Min Naung urged farmers to use fertilizers properly without waste, follow correct application methods based on crop stages, and aim for higher yields.

He also encouraged increasing paddy production for domestic self-sufficiency and export, noting that the government is supporting farmers despite global shortages of agricultural inputs. Union Minister U Myo Zaw Thein also discussed efforts to ensure timely delivery of fertilizers and measures to increase farmers’ income and rural development. Fertilizer distribution covered six villages, and about 30% of required fertilizer is being supplied in the first phase, with more to follow in later phases to meet full demand.
