Merit-Making Ceremony : Releasing fish and birds as merit-making ceremony

Yangon Region Chief Minister U Aung Naing Thu, the Speaker of the Yangon Region Hluttaw, regional ministers, and officials participated in a merit-making ceremony on Friday.

At the Shwedagon Pagoda, they offered flowers, water, and oil lamps. Following the offerings, 30,000 fish were released into Kandawgyi Lake, along with 1,000 small birds and 36 doves, which were set free as acts of religious merit.

The Chief Minister and officials also visited the Lawka Chantha Abaya Laba Muni Buddha Image in Insein Township, offering soon, flowers, water, and candles to Buddha images. They also offered cleansing water and fan at the Buddha Image on upper terrace. This was followed by releasing of 100 small birds and 10 doves into the sky.
