Amnesty Granted : President Office issues Order No. 42/2026

The President Office issued Order No. 42/2026 on April 17, granting amnesty to a prisoner in

commemoration of the Myanmar New Year. According to the order, the pardon was granted on

humanitarian grounds, to promote public peace, and to enable participation in nation-building

efforts. The recipient, Win Myint, currently serving a sentence at Taungoo Prison, was granted

amnesty under Section 401(1) of the Code of Criminal Procedure. The order states that the

pardon is conditional. If he reoffends, he will be required to serve both the new sentence and the

remaining portion of his current sentence. The order was signed by President U Min Aung

Hlaing.
