Large crowds gathered at Inokashira Park to enjoy picnics under cherry trees in full bloom, signaling the start of spring in Japan. The annual cherry blossom season, known as sakura, attracts locals and visitors who come to celebrate the brief flowering period.

Janne Nyman, English Teacher said "For me it’s just mostly like the beginning of spring, just a beautiful celebration, everyone comes together. I think maybe for Japanese people it can have more meaning. But I think it’s kind of people being together and enjoying just the beautiful day, beautiful flowers."

Hanami, or gatherings under the cherry trees, often involve sharing food and drinks while appreciating the blossoms and spring weather. The blossoms last for a short period, prompting many to visit at peak bloom to experience the flowers at their most vibrant.
