The Japanese Government had officially handed over a significant boost to Sri Lanka’s public transport sector, signing an agreement with the secretary to Sri Lanka's Ministry of Transport to provide eight specialized low-floor buses.
These buses are specifically designed to ensure that urban transit becomes inclusive for all citizens while simultaneously tackling the growing issue of Colombo city traffic congestion. This partnership is a continuation of both countries’ diplomatic bonds with Japan having provided over 62 million US dollars in grassroots assistance to Sri Lanka since 1989.
