Indonesia to become first buyer of KF-21 fighter jets

Indonesia is reportedly preparing to acquire 16 units of the KF-21 Boramae fighter jets, with the deal expected to be finalized during President Prabowo Subianto’s upcoming state visit to South Korea.

The planned purchase highlights Indonesia’s role as a long-term partner in the KF-21 development program, which has been underway since 2015. As part of the cooperation, Indonesia has been involved in the project through funding participation and technology collaboration, opening opportunities for defense industry development. The KF-21 is considered one of South Korea’s flagship defense projects, designed to enhance air combat capabilities with advanced technology.
