







It has been reported that for Thingyan 2026 (1387 ME), Walking Thingyan festivals will be prioritized across the country. Arrangements have been made to prohibit decorative floats and roaming vehicles to be doused with water-splashing.
Traditional Myanmar cultural practices such as Yein dance performances, offering charity food (Sitthidasa), washing hair and cutting nails for elders, donating medicine, and releasing fish will be carried out to preserve the essence of cultural traditions and charitable acts.
In Nay Pyi Taw, Walking Thingyan festivals will be organized for the public to joyfully participate at Naypyidaw Square, around the Shan Lake in Pyinmana, and in Tatkone and Lewe Townships. In Yangon, they will be held at the People's Square, along Ahlon Road from U Wisara Circle, in front of City Hall, and in districts/townships. In Mandalay, they will be held around the palace moat, around Meiktila Lake, and in districts/townships.
In Kayin State, Walking Thingyan and Sandy Beach Thingyan will be organized on Kannar Road in Hpa-an, at the Love Lane near Kan Thar Yar Lake, and in front of Zwekabin Park. In Sagaing Region, events will be held on Kan Thar Yar Street along Bogyoke Road in Monywa. In Magway Region, along the Kannar road in Magway city.
In Mon State, along the riverbank road in Mawlamyine. In Ayeyawady Region, along the riverbank road in Pathein. Walking Thingyan stages will also be arranged in designated locations in districts and various cities and Townships. Walking Thingyan festivals will also be organized in Myitkyina of Kachin State, Loikaw of Kayah State, Hakha of Chin State, Myeik of Taninthayi Region, Bago of Bago Region, Sittwe of Rakhine State, Taunggyi of Shan State and various districts and townships.
This year's festival is more than just a celebration. It is a significant event where the government, Hluttaw representatives, civil servants, and the public will come together to celebrate with a new spirit, new individuals, and a new political landscape. To ensure everyone can joyfully participate in the Walking Thingyan festival without any hindrance, Walking Thingyan stages will be set up not only in major cities but also in districts, townships, wards, and villages. Entertainment will be provided by nationally renowned artists, famous vocalists, and local singers.
