Magwe Region Chief Minister U Tint Lwin attended a farmers’ discussion on improving oilseed crop production and increasing cooperative sector products at the 30-ton oil mill (Than Taw Kone) on March 13.

During the event, the Chief Minister said that Magwe Region has more than 4.4 million people and the regional government is working to ensure food security. In the 2025–2026 fiscal year, more than 6.3 million acres of crops were cultivated, including over 1 million acres of groundnuts and 1.3 million acres of sesame.

He emphasized that improving crop yields requires quality seeds, proper soil management, sufficient water, and modern farming techniques. He added that fertilizers and financial support are also being provided to farmers through regional development funds. Officials and farmers discussed ways to increase oilseed production, improve edible oil processing, and expand cooperative products.

After the meeting, the Chief Minister and officials inspected operations at the 30-ton oil mill. The Magwe Township Cooperative currently operates three oil mills capable of producing about 1,000 viss of edible oil per day, helping supply local demand at affordable prices.
