Education Sector: MOE Union Minister tours in Mon State

Union Minister for Education Dr. Chaw Chaw Sein, together with Mon State Chief Minister U Aung Kyi Thein and party, inspected the students who were sitting for English subject of 2026 Matriculation Exam at the exam centres at Shwe Nat Taung Basic Education High Schoo, No.7 and No.12 Basic Education High Schools, Chaung Sone Basic Education High school and Kyeikmayaw Basic Education High Schools in Mon State on 12th March.

A total of 10,934 students registered for 2026 Matriculation Exam at 30 exam centres in Mon State and among them, 10,538 students sat for the English subject on the second day. In the afternoon, the Union Minister met with rectors, pro-rectors and teachers at Mawlamyine University.

She stated that research should be carried out among the subjects being taught at the university in order to support the regional development. She added that QA system should be implemented systematically, and teachers are urged to apply AI technology effectively.

The Union Minister also emphasized to carry out Library-based, Project-based and Research-based Learning effectively. After that, the Union Minister and party viewed round the classrooms, dormitories, departments and research centre within the University compound.

On arrival at Mawlamyine Education Degree College, the Union Minister met with the Principal, Vice-principal, professors, teachers and students where she stressed that the Education Colleges are carrying out the programs which provides the teacher trainings. Therefore, the students will gain opportunities to continue studying higher subjects. The Union Minister also provided cash assistance for the students and viewed round the college compound.
