The National Defence and Security Council enacted the Anti-Money Laundering Law (Law No. 16/2026 of National Defence and Security Council) on March 11.
The law has 16 chapters, covering definitions and scope, objectives, money laundering offenses, formation and powers of central committees and investigation teams, responsibilities of the Ministry of Home Affairs, preventive measures and reporting obligations, cross-border financial transactions, penalties, state funds management, and international cooperation and anti-financing of terrorism.
The law was signed by Acting President Senior General Min Aung Hlaing under Article 427 of the Constitution. The full text of the law will be available in newspapers, on the MRTV website, app, and social media.
