






Union Minister for Transport and Communications U Mya Tun Oo, accompanied by Deputy Minister U Aung Myaing and responsible officials from the Ministry, visited the Nay Pyi Tow New Locomotive Assembly and Manufacturing Factory of Myanma Railways in the morning of March 11.
They inspected the construction of the Battery Electric Multiple Units (BEMU), the Battery Electric Locomotive (BEL), and the battery carriages. Upon arrival at the Nay Pyi Taw New Locomotive Assembly and Manufacturing Factory, the Union Minister and party were briefed by the Managing Director of Myanma Railways and responsible officials on the construction progress of the Battery Electric Multiple Units (BEMU) within the factory, the new Battery Electric Locomotives (BEL), and the battery carriages.
Following the briefings, the Union Minister instructed all responsible personnel to make special efforts to ensure the quality and timely completion of the BEMUs, new BELs, and battery carriages currently under construction within the stipulated period. It is reported that Myanma Railways, under the guidance of the Head of State, is constructing BEMUs at the Nay Pyi Taw Locomotive Factory for use on the Yangon Circular Railway and short-distance routes.
Additionally, new BELs and battery carriages are being built for use on railway lines currently operated by diesel-electric locomotives. These efforts are part of initiatives to conserve energy, protect the environment, and provide better services to commuters.
