World Consumer Rights Day: Pre-event ceremony for WCRD held in Loikaw

The pre-event ceremony for the 2026 World Consumer Rights Day, which falls on March 15, was held at the State Hall in Loikaw on March 10.

The ceremony was attended by the State Chief Minister, U Sein Oo, who delivered an opening address. The event began with a song performance titled "Consumers We Protect and Support" by trainees from the Nursing and Midwifery Training School. Following this, State Chief Minister U Sein Oo delivered a congratulatory speech.

In his address, he mentioned that March 15th is observed annually worldwide to raise awareness about consumer rights, to protect these rights, and to build a fair market system etc. Subsequently, the State Director of the State Consumer Affairs Department explained the consumer protection processes.

The attendees then watched a video clip commemorating World Consumer Rights Day. Afterwards, trainees from the Education Degree College performed a song titled "Priority to Consumers." Continuing the ceremony, the State Chief Minister provided cash assistance for the World Consumer Rights Day event, which was accepted by the State Director of the State Consumer Affairs Department.

Subsequently, the Regional Military Operations Commander and the State Government Secretary presented cash awards to the performing groups. Following the ceremony, the State Chief Minister and officials cordially greeted the attendees and toured the exhibition booths set up for World Consumer Rights Day.

As a pre-event activity for the 2026 World Consumer Rights Day falling on March 15, in Loikaw, Kayah State, in the morning of March 9, Kayah State Government Minister for Natural Resources U Saw Hoo Hoo, along with officials, inaugurated a billboard at the Thiri Mingala Market in Loikaw by cutting the ribbon. The billboard bore the message "Consumer Life Confidence Only with Product Safety." They also distributed awareness pamphlets and affixed commemorative stickers to vehicles and motorcycles, it’s reported.
