Ethnic Affairs : Provisions for ethnic students

The Ministry of Ethnic Affairs presented cash awards and teaching aids to ethnic students from Pyinmana hilly area and offspring of the ministry staff who passed the 2025–2026 matriculation examination in Nay Pyi Taw, on Friday.

Union Minister U Than Maung attended the ceremony and delivered a speech. In his opening remarks, the Union Minister highlighted the State’s measures to ensure school-age children receive education at least up to KG+9 and to reduce school dropouts.

He emphasized the importance of education in developing knowledgeable, skilled and capable human resources for the future of the country.

During the 2025–2026 academic year, educational grants and teaching aids were presented to a total of 215 students from the Kayin, Kayan and Pa-O ethnic groups in the Pyinmana hilly area, as well as offspring of the ministry staff studying at primary, middle, high school and university levels.

The Union Minister, Deputy Minister, Nay Pyi Taw Council members and Permanent Secretary presented educational grants and teaching aids to the students and offspring of ministry staff. A Kayin Phyu ethnic student who secured four distinctions in the matriculation exam expressed gratitude on behalf of the students.

This was followed by traditional dances performance by Kayin, Kayan and Pa-O ethnic cultural groups. The Union Minister then viewed MSME products from the Pyinmana hilly area and ethnic cultural displays at the ministry.
