Dialogue with Elderly Persons: Workshop for Dialogue with Elderly Persons Held

A workshop for dialogue with elderly persons was held on March 9, at the Amara Hotel in Nay Pyi Taw. The Chairman of the Myanmar National Committee on Ageing and Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement, Dr. Soe Win, attended and delivered the opening address.

In his opening address, the Union Minister stated that the workshop was being organized with the aims of listening to the voices of the elderly to facilitate necessary support, ensuring the participation of elderly persons within society, demonstrating respect for the elderly, and enabling the sharing of experiences through interaction among the elderly. He noted that similar workshops had previously been held in Yangon on February 27, 2023, and in Mandalay on October 4, 2023, making this the third such workshop, now being held in Nay Pyi Taw.

During the subsequent workshop sessions, participants engaged in group discussions focusing on the care of elderly persons within the community, their access to basic support, and shared their experiences, it’s learnt.
