Training Opening Ceremony: Disaster Management Basic Course opening in Dawei

The opening ceremony of the Taninthayi Region-level Disaster Management Basic Course (1/2026) was held at City Hall (2) in Dawei on March 9.

During the ceremony, Region Chief Minister U Myat Ko stated that the course aims to increase knowledge regarding natural disasters among regional departments and working committees under the Disaster Management Body, strengthen cooperation and coordination between various sectors during disaster management operations, foster the development of a resilient community capable of withstanding disasters through effective networking. The Chief Minister urged trainees to study the lessons with interest and to actively participate in their respective roles with a sense of responsibility to help citizens overcome the challenges posed by natural disasters.

Following the opening speech, the Region Director of the Department of Disaster Management explained the objectives of the training. The Region Chief Minister and ministers then took a commemorative group photo with the trainees.

A total of 50 trainees from various government departments and social organizations are attending the course. Officials will conduct the training sessions through March 13.
