Youth Affairs: Myanmar Youth Affairs Central Committee's meeting

The Myanmar Youth Affairs Central Committee held its Work Coordination Meeting at the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs in Nay Pyi Taw on Wednesday.

Committee Chairman and Union Minister Jeng Phang Naw Taung said the government is working to strengthen the youth sector in line with national policies. He explained the plans to open Youth Affairs Department offices starting in the 2026–2027 fiscal year, with priority given to Nay Pyi Taw, Kayin State, Bago, Mandalay and Yangon Regions, and Shan State.

He also highlighted the successful Youth Peace Forum 2026 and the opening of youth centers in four regions and states. He added that in 2025, more than 309,000 youths participated in awareness talks, vocational training, and youth development programs nationwide.

During the summer holidays, over 178,000 youths joined various training courses and activities. Vice Chairperson and Union Minister Dr. Chaw Chaw Sein said the Ministry of Education is cooperating with other ministries to provide awareness programs on trafficking, online games, e-cigarettes, and vaping. She also encouraged expanding libraries, educational film screenings, study tours, and sports opportunities at youth centers.

Officials and committee members discussed future plans to promote well-rounded youth development. The meeting concluded with a call for continued cooperation to nurture capable and responsible young people who can contribute to national development.
