Combating Online Scams: Efforts to combat online fraud operations

Authorities are continuing investigations into online fraud operations and have identified and detained one more South Korean national who entered the country illegally.

The individual reportedly crossed through neighboring countries, including Thailand, and was staying at a site near Myawaddy in Kayin State. Officials are now conducting checks for deportation in accordance with legal procedures.

The government is working with neighboring countries, regional partners and international organizations to crack down on those involved in online scam centers, including foreign nationals behind the operations. Efforts are also being made to repatriate foreign victims and trafficking survivors to their home countries as quickly as possible.
