Vice-Chairman of the State Security and Peace Commission, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services, Commander-in-Chief (Army), Vice-Senior General Soe Win, accompanied by his wife Daw Than Than Nwe, senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief, the Commander of East Command and responsible officials, visited and inspected stationed troops in Naungwo, Keng Hkam and Mine Pin military stations on February 24th and separately met with officers, other ranks and their families and delivered speeches.
First, at the respective military station headquarters, the responsible officials briefed the SSPC Vice-Chairman, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services, Commander-in-Chief (Army) and officials on matters relating to regional security operations and the implementation status of the Four Main Tasks for building the armed forces. The SSPC Vice-Chairman made inquiries and coordinated with responsible officials to address requirements.
During the meetings, the SSPC Vice-Chairman, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services, Commander-in-Chief (Army), Vice-Senior General Soe Win delivered addresses in which he elaborated on the points stating that due to electoral fraud committed during the 2020 multi-party democracy general elections in an attempt to unlawfully seize state power, the Tatmadaw had to assume State responsibilities in accordance with the 2008 Constitution; from the time of assuming duties, it has set and implemented objectives, including the provision that upon completion of electoral processes, elections would be held and State responsibilities transferred to the winning party.
He explained that upon assuming responsibilities, protests and armed violence emerged. Protests were resolved with restraint. These protests subsequently led to instigation by EAO groups, and due to provocations from domestic and foreign organizations and anti-government media that do not desire peace and stability, armed violence ensued.
Furthermore, various terrorist groups emerged, including the illegally formed CRPH and NUG and their proxy terrorist organizations calling themselves PDF, which committed terrorist acts. The Tatmadaw, together with Myanmar Police Force members and peace-loving citizens, has been countering these in accordance with the law. He also stated that the State Security and Peace Commission commenced the multi-party democracy general elections, reflecting the people's will, on December 28, 2025, and successfully conducted them in three phases across 263 townships.
Citizens actively cast their votes at polling stations during the elections. With the successful conclusion of the elections, the Union Government and respective Region and State governments are undertaking preparatory work for convening parliamentary sessions in the near future. Arrangements are being made to convene the First Regular Session of the Third Pyithu Hluttaw on March 16th and the First Regular Session of the Third Amyotha Hluttaw on March 18th. In early April, a President will be elected, a new government formed, and State responsibilities will be handed over accordingly.
He also responded to representations made by individual officers, other ranks and military personnel, coordinating with responsible officials as necessary. Following the meetings, the SSPC Vice-Chairman Vice-Senior General Soe Win presented provisions sent by the Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services for officers, other ranks and families from various military stations, eggs provided by Command Headquarters, and cash awards for officers, other ranks and families to cook and share meals together.
Responsible officials received these items. Similarly, wife of the SSPC Vice-Chairman, Daw Than Than Nywe, presented local provisions and cash donations for the Maternal and Child Welfare Association, which were received by responsible officials. The SSPC Vice-Chairman, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services, Commander-in-Chief (Army), Vice-Senior General Soe Win and officials then cordially greeted officers, other ranks and family members from various military stations who had attended the meetings, it’s reported.
