Private Health Services: Central Committee meeting held in Nay Pyi Taw

The Central Committee on Private Health Services held its meeting at the Ministry of Health in Nay Pyi Taw on Thursday. Committee Chairman, Union Minister for Health Professor Dr. Thet Khaing Win attended the meeting and make opening remarks.

The Union Minister said the Ministry of Health is working to ensure balanced and systematic development of private hospitals and clinics alongside public hospitals. He noted that licenses are issued without delay if applications meet the requirements set by the Law Relating to Private Health Care Services, its bylaws and regulations.

He also emphasized strict supervision of hospital construction according to approved designs and legal action against businesses that fail to follow licensing rules. To ensure safe and reliable private healthcare services for the public, the 2026 amendment to the Law Relating to Private Health Care Services has been enacted to strengthen inspection and regulation, including private medical training schools and outpatient surgical services.

Policies are also being implemented to effectively utilize healthcare human resources in the private sector. The meeting discussed updates on the development of private health services, new license applications, and special cases.
