Development Projects: Chief Minister tours in Kawthaung Township

Tanintharyi Region Chief Minister U Myat Ko, along with the Minister for Natural Resources and officials, inspected regional development projects in Kawthaung Township on Thursday.

They first visited the Royal Concrete Jetty in Aye Yeik Nyein Ward, which is being renovated during the 2025–2026 and 2026–2027 fiscal years. The Chief Minister reviewed the progress of the project and the status of import and export activities, and gave necessary instructions.

Afterward, they inspected the Shwepyitha Power Plant. Officials explained that electricity in Kawthaung is being supplied by combining diesel generators from PTC Company and the newly completed SCG solar power plant.

The Chief Minister instructed officials to increase solar power generation up to 2,000 kW out of the total 2,500 kW daytime load to help reduce electricity costs for residents. By increasing solar energy use and reducing expensive diesel fuel consumption, electricity prices for the public are expected to decrease significantly.
