Coordination Meeting: Union Minister for Education delivered the address

A coordination meeting to discuss the development of a vocational framework aligned with the education system and the compilation and preservation of a documentary record was held at the Meeting Hall of the Ministry of Education in Nay Pyi Taw on February 18.

Firstly, Union Minister Dr. Chaw Chaw Sein spoke, stating that a committee would be formed to develop the vocational framework aligned with the education system and to compile a documentary record regarding education reforms. She explained that the meeting was convened to coordinate the formation of the committee, involving Permanent Secretaries and Director-Generals from relevant ministries, as well as responsible officials from the Ministry of Education, to facilitate the next steps. She mentioned that the Ministry of Education had already coordinated with the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation and the Ministry of Science and Technology in designing educational pathways for those who did not pass Grade 12 and for those who completed Grade 9 but did not attend high school. Moving forward, it will be necessary to design successive educational opportunity pathways, etc.

Following this, Deputy Minister Dr. Zaw Myint clarified and discussed the formation of the committee tasked with developing the vocational framework aligned with the education system and compiling and preserving the documentary record, as well as the committee's duties and responsibilities.

Subsequently, Permanent Secretaries and Director-Generals from the attending relevant ministries, the Secretary-General of UMFCCI, and Director-Generals from the departments under the Ministry of Education discussed and presented on the current activities within their respective ministries, points to consider when developing the vocational framework aligned with the education system, and aspects related to compiling the documentary record.

The Union Minister then provided necessary coordination and integration. Following the discussions, the Union Minister for Education delivered concluding remarks stating that the Ministry of Education would establish timelines and provide a format for reporting. The relevant ministries should then develop their inputs based on the specified format.

Similarly, the Union Minister met with Deputy Ministers Dr. Zaw Myint and U Nay Myo Hlaing, Director-Generals, members of the National Curriculum Committee from the Ministry of Education and related ministries, members of the Subject Curriculum Committees, and members of the curriculum development teams. The meeting was held to facilitate the drafting and submission of curricula for Industrial, Agricultural, and Livestock subjects at the middle school and high school levels.
