Inspection of No. 2 Steel Mill : MoI UM inspected No.2 Steel Mill (Pinpet)

Union Minister for Industry Dr. Charlie Than, accompanied by Shan State Chief Minister U Aung Aung, Deputy Minister for Industry, and the Shan State Minister for Economic Affairs, arrived at No. 2 Steel Mill (Pinpet) in Taunggyi, Shan State, on February 16 and met with the Managing Director of No. 1 Heavy Industries, the factory in-charge, and responsible officials in the mill's meeting hall.

During the meeting, the Union Minister stated that out of the 22 workshops at No. 2 Steel Mill (Pinpet), machinery in 19 workshops has been inspected, repaired, and test-run. Among the remaining three workshops, the Air Separation Plant, which produces oxygen and nitrogen gas, will be made ready for test runs soon.

The machinery installed in the main workshop of the mill, the iron smelting workshop using Romelt technology, has also been inspected by experts. Arrangements are being made to install and test-run the waste heat power plant.

The Managing Director of No. 1 Heavy Industries and the factory in-charge then explained the status of preparations for test-running the Air Separation Plant. The Shan State Chief Minister and the Deputy Minister for Industry supplemented the discussion.

Subsequently, the Union Minister and party arrived at the Air Separation Plant, inspected the machinery test-run operations, and met with experts from AGS Co., Ltd., who carried out the inspection, installation, and test-running of the machinery.

They discussed ensuring safe and continuous operation of the Air Separation Plant, maintaining spare parts, and conducting training courses on machinery handling and operation. The Union Minister cordially met with the  experts and presented gifts.

In the afternoon, the Union Minister arrived at No. 8 Garment Factory Branch (Yamethin) in Yamethin Township, Mandalay Region, and toured to inspect the production of shirts, blankets, hospital mattresses, and workwear. He met with the factory manager and departmental officials and provided necessary guidance, it’s reported.
