Yangon General Hospital has successfully treated four cancer patients with bone marrow transplants in January.
The patients included men aged 46 to 63 from Bago, Yangon and Sagaing Regions. The procedures were carried out by the hospital administration, hematology specialists, experienced doctors, nurses, and supporting staff.
Since 2016, the hospital has performed a total of 29 bone marrow transplants. With the new facility for Bone Marrow Transplant Centre in the 7th floor building, opened in 2024, the hospital can now provide more comprehensive treatment.
Conducting these procedures domestically helps patients save significant medical costs compared to undergoing treatment abroad. The hospital plans to continue offering bone marrow transplants to benefit local patients.
