Celebration in Tatkone: 80th anniversary of the Myanma Radio and Television

The celebration of the 80th anniversary of the Myanma Radio and Television (MRTV) was held in Nay Pyi Taw Tatkone on Sunday.

The celebration features various performances by the MRTV staff and artistes, awarding the outstanding staff and lucky draw program. The Myanma Radio and Television (MRTV) is the very first radio and broadcasting service of the country and running with the objectives to inform, educate and entertain.

On 15 February 1946, Rangoon Radio began broadcasting under the name Burma Broadcasting Services (BBS). On 1 November 1980, it transitioned to regular television broadcasts as a colour TV channel. Currently, various television channels are being broadcast, including MRTV HD, MRTV News, MRTV NRC, MRTV Farmers’, MRTV Parliament, MRTV Sports, and the MITV channel, which airs content in English.

Moreover, Myanmar Radio, Thapyay Radio, Myanma Radio (broadcasting in English), and programmes in 17 different ethnic languages are also being broadcast. Furthermore, the MRTV DTH Platform, which includes both State-owned and private television channels, is currently broadcasting a total of 19 TV channels. Similarly, in line with the changing times, MRTV has started streaming through online media, including the MRTV Application (MRTV App), MRTV Web Portal, Facebook, Telegram, and TikTok. In addition, the MRTV Radio App, which allows for exclusive radio listening, has also been launched.
