A total of 150 members, 141 men and 9 women from PDF and other armed groups have returned to the legal fold, bringing weapons and ammunition with them. The handover ceremony was held at the Central Command headquarters in Mandalay on Friday. Officials welcomed them and transferred them back to their parents and guardians.

It is learnt that the returnees decided to give up armed activities because they no longer accepted violence against civilians and government staff, internal mistreatment within their groups, and hardships in their living conditions. They also expressed trust in the State’s peace process. The group surrendered 15 rifles, 1 RPG, 2 homemade guns, 19 grenades, ammunition, communication devices, and bulletproof vests.

The government awarded a total of 104.3 million kyats in cash rewards for the surrendered weapons and provided additional assistance. Those without weapons also received cash assistance. Those who wish to return to the legal fold can contact nearby administrative offices, military units, or police stations and will be welcomed and assisted.
