Awareness Seminar : Union Minister participated in discussions

An awareness seminar on MSME development and ensuring public safety in food consumption was held on February 11 at the Supervisory Office, Nay Pyi Taw Square, the venue of the Union-level MSME Products Exhibition and Sale Festival.

Vice-Chairman of the Committee for the Development of MSMEs, Union Minister for Industry Dr. Charlie Than stated that the Head of State had provided guidance for Union Ministers to meet with entrepreneurs and hold awareness seminars during the exhibition period. Accordingly, daily awareness seminars are being conducted.

He explained that today, responsible officials from the Ministry of Education would discuss the requirements to be followed to ensure public safety in consuming food products. He noted that this programme represents a linkage between industry and universities.

He encouraged attendees to openly ask questions and seek clarifications regarding the discussions. Continuing, Union Minister for Education Dr Chaw Chaw Sein explained that universities under the Ministry's supervision are conducting research papers related to various sectors, which are uploaded on the Ministry's website for public access.

Additionally, periodic awareness seminars are held to disseminate technologies. She discussed that entrepreneurs can collaborate with universities to upgrade their products. Afterwards, Professor Dr. HlaThida Aung from the Chemistry Department, Naypyitaw State Academy, presented a discussion on the topic "Determination of Aflatoxin  Levels in Peanuts and Sesame Seeds Before and After Oil Extraction."

Entrepreneurs in attendance then raised questions for clarification, which were respectively addressed by the Union Minister for Education and responsible officials. The Union Minister for Education delivered the closing speech, concluding the ceremony.

Subsequently, Union Minister Dr. Charlie Than joined a Training Completion Ceremony for Boiler Operators Training Course No. 1/2026, held at the Boiler Training Hall of the Yangon Region Directorate of Industrial Supervision and Inspection, Bahan Township, Yangon Region.

He delivered the opening speech virtually from the Ministry in Nay Pyi Taw. Following this, the Deputy Director-General of the Directorate of Industrial Supervision and Inspection presented awards to three outstanding trainees and awarded training completion certificates to the trainee leader.
