Celebration in Taunggyi: 79th Shan State Day Celebrations held in Taunggyi

The 79th Shan State Day celebrations took place on February 7, at the Aweyar Hot Air Balloon Field in Taunggyi. Member of the State Security and Peace Commission Union Minister for Border Affairs and Ethnic Affairs Lt-Gen Yar Pyae attended the ceremony and read out the message sent by the Acting President and Chairman of the State Security and Peace Commission Senior General Min Aung Hlaing. Shan State Chief Minister U Aung Aung later made a speech.

This was followed by ceremonial ribbon cutting for the celebration, which features various booths on traditional foods, departmental works, companies, MSMEs and traditional attires. Subsequently, a ceremony to present honorary certificates and insignia was held at the City Hall.

The awards were presented to the recipients for their outstanding performance in various fields. In the afternoon, the Union Minister and party visited the Border Areas Nationalities Youths Development Training School and Women Vocational Training School, and provided the needs. At night, a dinner reception in honour of the 70th Shan State Day was held, with the performance of cultural dance troupes.
