Academy Award 2025: Gold Statuettes & Fashion Awards presented

"Pan Myaing Lae Hma Uyin Hmuu" won the Best Picture Award at the 2025 Myanmar Motion Picture Academy Awards Presentation ceremony, held at the Myanmar International Convention Centre I in Nay Pyi Taw on Saturday.

Alive with the arrivals of celebrities along the red carpet, the venue featured the interview booth and the display of movie titles screened in 2025. Acting President Chairman of the State Security and Peace Commission Senior General Min Aung Hlaing attended the celebration which began with the setting up of Academy Golden Statuette on the digital stage.

This was followed by the entertainment program by movie stars and artistes. The Acting President later made a speech, stressing the importance of preserving traditional culture in an effort for development of movie industry, while striving to catch up the changing trend.

He urged all involved in the movie industry to hand down the tangible and intangible heritage of the country to the new generation. He also emphasized to produce movies that portray the traditional customs, beautiful natural landscapes and heritage of the country. He called for safeguarding the national characteristics, upholding the nationalistic fervour.

The Chairman of Myanmar Motion Picture Organization also spoke, expressing thanks to concerned individuals for supporting the movie industry. This was followed by the presentation of the Motion Picture Academy Awards to the awardees. This year's Lifelong Academy Award went to three individuals, Veteran Actor and Director U Htay Aung, Actress and Producer Daw Khin Lay Swe and Director U Kyi Soe Tun, for their contribution for the interest of the people through the works of art.

The Best Cinematography Award went to Thar Kyaw for his excellent works in the movie "Hnin Pwint Say Yar" . Han Htoo Zin won the Best Film Music Award for his outstanding musical arrangement in the movie "Myit Let Tet Pae Mae Yay Si Ka Kyan Tae"  . Ko Joe won the Best Sound Editing Award for the movie "Nat Win Thae" , while Khun won the Best Editing Award for the movie "Myo Pya Htae Ka Lan Ma" .

The Best Film Script Award went to Thi Lan for the movie "Maunt Mi Phaya", and "Pan Myaing Lae Hma Uyin Hmuu"  won the Best Picture Award. The Best Director Award went to Ooratha for the movie "Byaw Than". Khaing Hning Wai won the Best Supporting Actress Award for her excellent performance in the movie “Maunt Mi Phaya" ,  while Nay Myo Aung won the Best Supporting Actor Award for the movie "Myit Let Tet Pae Mae Yay Si Ka Kyan Tae".

The Best Actress Award went to Yadana Bo for the movie “Maunt Mi Phaya" and the Best Actor Award to Myint Myat for “Myay Zar”. Moreover, the Myanmar Academy Fashion Grand Awards were presented to Actor Nay Toe and Actress May Than Nu, while the Myanmar Academy Fashion Awards went to Actor Kaung Myat San and Actress Yadana Bo.

For this year Academy Awards, the selection panel has assessed 72 films and shortlisted 22 finalists for the final round. After the ceremony, the Acting President took a documentary group photo together with the artistes from motion picture, literary, theatrical and music arenas and cordially greeted them.
