Electric Power: Discussion on power distribution in Mandalay Region

Union Minister for Electric Power U Nyan Tun on February 4th met with the District/Township Electric Managers, engineers and budget officers at Mandalay Electricity Supply Corporation in Chan Aye Thazan Township in Mandalay Region. Officials clarified on working processes of the corporation along with the procedures, office’s visions and missions as well as electricity distribution and supply.

On the reports, the Union Minister stated the successful construction of LNG facalities to provide 500 MW electricity to meet country’s electricity demand. Currently, the facility can produce 60,000 MW per hour to supply electricity in full capacity. For industrial sector, electricity has been distributing 24/7 through separate electric grids, setting new economic rate starting from 1st February. The meter readers and concerned officials are urged for systemic collection of meter bills, ensuring the continuous supply of electricity.

The Union Minister also called for collaborative efforts of all state holders for stable electricity distribution and supply system and for the completion of working process with the systematic usage of budget. To avoid illegal electricity usages, the Union Minister emphasized to conduct spot check, cross check, counter check and surprise check in accordance with the department’s procedures and guidelines.
