






A ceremony for appointing new Medical Officers and new Dental Surgeons as civil service officers was held at the Ministry of Health in Nay Pyi Taw on February 4.
Union Minister for Health Prof. Dr. Thet Khaing Win attended and delivered a speech. In his address, the Union Minister stated that the Ministry of Health operates with the goals of enabling everyone to live a full, long life and ensuring everyone is free from disease. He mentioned that the Head of State personally emphasizes the development and progress of the nation's education and health sectors, and that needs are being continuously addressed.
Since 2021, health staff have been granted allowances such as specialist support allowance, postgraduate support allowance, risk allowance, and night duty allowance. He noted that plans are underway to rename and upgrade nursing training schools to Nursing Sciences Colleges, and to provide increased salaries and other benefits, among other recognition efforts.
Regarding the Ministry's efforts to supplement health human resources, after 2021, a total of 2,633 new Medical Officers, 352 new Dental Surgeons, 447 Bachelor of Nursing Science (BNSc) graduates, 5,899 Nursing Diploma holders, 185 Midwifery Diploma holders, 3,177 Assistant Nurses, 237 Bachelor of Pharmacy graduates, 538 Medical Technology graduates, and 3,150 staff at the skilled level 4 have been appointed and assigned duties.
Subsequently, the Director-General of the Department of Medical Services, Dr. Thida Hla, provided an explanation regarding the code of conduct and duties that a civil servant must adhere to and perform. At the ceremony, 16 new Medical Officers and 110 new Dental Surgeons were appointed and assigned duties.
